Metrology and robotics support for aerospace assembly

Hands-on engineering support, remote or on site, from a single inspection problem to a complete measurement system. Every engagement starts with a short discovery call to agree the problem and the outcome you need.

Metrology process design and review

A measurement process is only as good as its weakest assumption. I review or design measurement plans against the drawing and the process, check that the measurement uncertainty is small enough for the tolerance, and set up validation and verification checks so results hold up at audit.

Typical work: measurement plans, GD&T interpretation, datum strategy, uncertainty budgets, inspection procedure reviews.

Large-volume measurement

Laser trackers and handheld scanners are powerful, but results depend on set-up, environment and software workflow. I help teams get reliable data from large aerostructures, jigs and engine components, and turn that data into clear decisions.

Typical work: laser tracker set-up and multi-station networks, jig and fixture verification, Polyworks and Spatial Analyzer workflows, interim tracker checks.

Robot–metrology integration

Industrial robots repeat well but are rarely accurate enough on their own for aerospace work. I integrate external metrology so robots position parts and tools where the design says they should be, from feasibility study to production-ready system.

Typical work: metrology-guided positioning, robot accuracy assessment, laser tracker and iGPS integration, collaborative robot cells, technology trials.

Inspection automation and training

Repetitive inspection steps are where time and errors build up. I write Polyworks automation scripts that make routines repeatable, then leave your team with the training and work instructions to run and maintain them.

Typical work: Polyworks macros, reporting templates, work instructions, software training, handover documentation.
